Eating healthily plays a crucial role in maintaining one’s health so adopting a realistic and safe food culture is vital to global food security. This food safety and microbiology course establishes the importance of ‘good’ bacteria like probiotics. We study food spoilage, food preservation and foodborne diseases. We also identify career opportunities for microbiologists in the food industry and describe their duties and the challenges they face.
