Pea microgreens, also known as pea shoots, are young leaves and shoots that sprout from pea seeds. They’re a delightful addition to salads, sandwiches, and other dishes. Let me share some information about growing pea microgreens:

    Flavor and Benefits

Pea microgreens taste similar to full-grown peas and have a sweet, mild flavor reminiscent of snow peas. They are rich in vitamins, including iron, protein, and vitamin C. Health benefits include anti-inflammatory properties, cardiovascular support, and potential weight loss due to their fiber content.

    Growing Process

Start by soaking pea seeds for 6-24 hours. Rinse and drain the seeds. Use a fine-grained soil or coconut coir as the growing medium. Place the seeds in shallow grow trays. Provide adequate light using a grow light (such as the Agrobrite T5). Harvest pea microgreens when they reach 6-14 days old.

    Pea Shoots

Pea shoots are the small beginnings of pea vines, typically at the 2nd leaf stage. They have lacy tendrils and are sweet and tender, similar to sugar snap peas. Like other microgreens, pea shoots are full of antioxidants, enzymes, and vitamins.

Remember, whether you choose to grow pea microgreens or pea shoots, both options offer delicious and nutritious additions to your meals!
